What To Pack On Your Ski Trip

It’s that most wonderful time of the year once again.

Time to hit the slopes, that is!

The first few snowfalls have blanketed our favorite high altitude spots, and now that sweet fresh powder is just beckoning for us to shred.

But before you get too eager and jump on the lift, it’s important that you make sure you have everything you need. Skiing is a blast, but it also takes a bit of prior, proper planning.

No matter if you’re heading to the slopes of Colorado, Utah, or elsewhere, you need to pack all of the essentials to ensure that your first time on the slopes isn’t your last time, but rather your best time.

In this blog, we’ll take a look at a few of the skiing essentials that you need to pack for your trip. So, what are you waiting for? Let’s get to shredding!

Clothing

Whether this is your first time on the mountain or your 1,000th, it’s important to make sure you have the proper clothing equipment for the conditions you’re about to endure. Even though it might be a gorgeous and sunny day up there, you’re still grinding through the snowy goodness, and chances are you’re going to take a tumble (or two) while you’re up there. While packing for your trip, make sure you at least bring the essentials, such as:

  • 1-2 Waterproof Jackets
  • 1-3 Comfortable Pairs Of Waterproof Pants (Snow or Ski Pants)
  • Additional Layers - Vests, Sweaters, Long Underwear, Fleece, Etc.
  • Coveralls (For Extra Protection)
  • Gloves and/or Mittens (Insulated and Water Proof)
  • 3-4 Pairs Of Wool Socks
  • Ski Mask (Non-Cotton)
  • Warm Winter Hat

The weather conditions can change in a hurry when you’re up on a mountain, so it’s better to pack and layer accordingly. You can always take layers off if you need, but at least you’ll have enough in case things get dicey.

Gear

Now it’s time to check and make sure you have all of your equipment ready to rock and roll. Of course, it might be the case where you don’t even have your own equipment. That’s OK! You can always check with the resort to see what their rental offerings are. You can typically rent darn near everything, from skis, to a snowboard, to boots, and more. But, if you have your own then you need to make sure you pack it, along with:

  • Skis, Ski Boots, Ski Poles
  • Snowboard, Snowboard Boots
  • Goggles (With different lense colors, if possible)
  • Sunglasses
  • Helmet
  • Hand And Foot Warmers
  • Lift Tickets/Ski Passes

You might also want to consider packing extra glasses, contact lenses, shoes, boots, or any other gear. It’s hard to predict what you’re going to need and when you’re going to need it out there, after all!

Miscellaneous

When it’s time to hit the slopes, you need to be sure you have all of your other typical items for an overnight trip. That includes things like:

  • Driver’s License/ID
  • Maps
  • Credit Card/Cash
  • Medical Insurance Card
  • Day Pack
  • Snacks
  • Water
  • Electronics
  • Backpack/Day Bag

And anything else that you think you might need, go ahead and bring it. It’s better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
